by Megan Lam

“I love this so much!”

Look inside

Hong Kong’s stories are disappearing…along with the only memories of Athena’s mother. And Kai, her uncle, will stop at nothing to bring Moon back. Athena Pang is failing Chinese history, running on caffeine and spite, and absolutely not prepared to discover that her village’s oldest legends are real. Then when she gets chosen to be the last Storyteller, a soggy phoenix launches her into a quest to gather the Pearl shatds , and a broken world of spirits, protectors, and old grudges starts closing in around her.

About Megan Lam

Hi, I’m Megan Lam, a writer from Hong Kong who loves mythology, village legends, and characters with way too much sassiness. My stories are inspired by the traditions and folklore I grew up around in Fanling Wai, and I write because I want to keep Hong Kong’s old magic from fading and help them to stay loud, alive, and impossible to forget.

I write middle grade fantasies, and am drawn to stories with lots of wit, humour, and heart. Also, I cried after Zöe’s death in the Titans Curse, so that means I’m a good person. You guys can check out my insta at megan._.writes!
